B. Daly, Jr.

The Bulletin is called upon this week to chronicle the sad misfortunes that attended one of our most respected families during the past week. Saturday noon B. Daly, Jr. in his nineteenth year, died after an illness of a couple of weeks. The funeral occurred from St. Henry’s church, Monday. At the time of the death, the father, Mr. B. Daly, was confined to his bed suffering from Pneumonia, and while quite sick, serious results were not thought of. On New Years day Mr. Daly was considered entirely out of danger, having about recovered from pneumonia. During the afternoon he was sleeping peacefully and waking up raised himself in bed and with a gasp fell back dead from heart disease. Deceased was in his 63d year, and was one of the oldest residents of this part of the county, and greatly beloved by all for his many noble qualities. A loving wife, who is prostrated from her double affliction and several children, survive him. The funeral will take place from St. Henry’s church this morning.   We felt sorry to learn of the death of B. Daly, a promising young man cut away in the bloom of youth. We along with many others extend our heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved parents and family. He was an exemplary young man at home and abroad. We have often met him at parties and passed many pleasant hours together. But the hand of death has separated our young friend from earthly ties and endearments and left us taught to look upon death. The cold grave has received those we loved. It is a pleasant hope that death is followed by resurrection. The grave is the last resting place of all, high or low, rich or poor, all must pass away from this vale of tears, to render an account of their stewardship. May our young friend that has passed away to the great beyond, be bailed with: --

Come thou blessed of my Father,

Enter thou into the joys of thy Lord.
